Our Culture of Togetherness

Here at SPK Early Learning Centre in O’Connor, we don’t operate the same way as the big corporate childcare centres. We believe in welcoming children and parents into a real community. Because we don’t cater for babies, we don’t need to separate children into rooms. Rather, we work with two larger age-specific groups and provide lots of time for shared play and mingling.

We are this way by design, because we believe in creating a genuinely inclusive environment which allows for amazing social growth as well as education. Our families are often involved in our large number of incursion activities, and everyone always feels welcome in our little community.

Fun Learning Environment

Children and Parents Love Our Environment

When you walk into SPK Early Learning Centre, you’ll automatically pick up on our warm, family-friendly environment. It’s a place where children can feel relaxed and comfortable while being encouraged to give things a try. That’s the world we’ve created for our children.

We wanted to provide something different than the often sterile environments found in larger childcare centres. We know we’re doing something right too, because it’s not just children who love their time with us. Parents can really feel the warmth and safety they remember from their own childhood.

A Modern Approach to Early Childhood Education

We want childhood to be filled with happy memories and experiences. A time that children will remember fondly throughout their life. That belief forms a large part of what we do at SPK Early Learning Centre. But we’re not just a daycare centre - we provide genuine learning experiences ina safe, engaging and fun environment.

We don’t break children into rooms, opting instead for two groups - pre-preschoolers and preschoolers. Parents love our slightly more structured approach to education, which is mixed with plenty of shared play time where all children can enjoy their time together.

We also offer flexibility of learning. Children’s interests can change so quickly, and we like to follow that. Our educators have the adaptability to adjust learning programs to suit the interests of our children, which creates a much more engaging learning environment.

Early Childhood Education
A Wonderful Mini-School Community
Age-appropriate learning activities are conducted in groups, giving children a basis of the routine they will encounter in school. We also have multi-age activities, which help to foster our community culture. In some ways, we’re a lot like a mini school!

Play-based learning is also an important part of our day, and this occurs both in age groups and as a whole kindergarten.
Being able to explore a world with other children of all ages helps grow their confidence while getting ready for school.

We also love having families involved in what we do. We have more incursion activities than other kindergartens and daycare centres, and parents are often involved. This helps establish a real connection between home, the community, and our centre.
A Safe, Fun Environment Just Like Home
Our centre has a very open-plan feel, and that’s just the way we like it. This creates a wonderful environment where children can speak to any of our educators at any time - they know our whole team, and our whole team knows them. This sort of love and care can’t be matched by the bigger centres. Children deserve to feel special, cared for and safe, and that’s why we love the world we’ve created for them!

Our busy schedule of incursion activities also aligns closely to what’s happening in the community and in people’s lives, giving our children a real sense of belonging to the world around them.

Early Learning Childcare
Healthy Choices for Healthy Kids
Morning tea and afternoon tea are an exciting community time. Your child will be provided with a delicious and healthy snack-time with their friends. Families can choose to send a lunch of their child's choice in a lunch box (because every child enjoys their favourite foods), but knowing that your child will have nutritious snacks is one less thing for you to worry about. Of course, special dietary requirements can always be catered for where necessary.

We want to help children establish healthy habits from a young age, and we encourage healthy lifestyle choices through our amazing meals and plenty of physical exercise.

Opportunities for Families

We love having families involved in our centre, from the moment you first visit us to the day your little ones are heading off to school. We work closely with parents to best understand each child’s individual needs and interests.

We also provide plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved in or attend events, but there is never an obligation to do so. We understand everybody is busy, but we also want parents to know they are always welcome in our family.
We Do What We Say
Our philosophy at SPK Early Learning Centre is build around a culture of inclusion and respect. We believe all children have the right to a good education, and importantly they should feel nurtured, safe and supported as they’re guided through their early years.
No child is left out, and we help them every step of the way. We foster a real sense of community, and our children learn to love the world around them while they develop all the skills needed to transition to school.
